The 2 main locations in the music videos are inside a house and on the streets.

Props

In music videos, props are items or objects used as visual elements to convey the message or story of a video. Props can be anything from small items like jewelry or accessories to larger items like furniture or vehicles and can be used to create a certain environment, mood or theme. Props are often used to enhance the visual appeal of a music video and add depth and meaning to the story. For example, a prop like a rose can be used in a music video to symbolize love or romance, while a prop like a gun can be used to create tension or drama. Music video directors and producers carefully select props that help tell the story and create an atmosphere that matches the mood of the music. Props can add a unique and creative element to a music video and can be an effective way to convey a message or theme to the audience.

Lyrics

I got my driver's license last week

Just like we always talked about
'Cause you were so excited for me
To finally drive up to your house
But today I drove through the suburbs
Cryin' 'cause you weren't around

And you're probably with that blonde girl
Who always made me doubt
She's so much older than me
She's everything I'm insecure about
Yeah, today I drove through the suburbs
'Cause how could I ever love someone else?

And I know we weren't perfect but I've never felt this way for no one
And I just can't imagine how you could be so okay now that I'm gone
Guess you didn't mean what you wrote in that song about me
'Cause you said forever, now I drive alone past your street

And all my friends are tired
Of hearing how much I miss you, but
I kinda feel sorry for them
'Cause they'll never know you the way that I do, yeah
Today I drove through the suburbs
And pictured I was driving home to you

And I know we weren't perfect
But I've never felt this way for no one, oh
And I just can't imagine how you could be so okay now that I'm gone
I guess you didn't mean what you wrote in that song about me
'Cause you said forever, now I drive alone past your street

The lyrics tell the story of a young woman who just got her driver's license, a milestone she talked about with her ex-partner. The song then explores the emotions he experiences driving alone through the suburbs and deals with the reality of his situation. The song begins with the line "I got my driver's license last week, just like we always talked about." It sets the stage and introduces the idea that the singer and her ex-partner shared plans and dreams. However, as the song progresses, it becomes clear that those dreams have been shattered and the singer is left alone to deal with his pain. Chorus: "But today I drove through the suburbs crying 'cause you weren't there and you're probably with that blonde girl who always made me doubt," the singer expresses deep sadness and betrayal. She cries because her ex is not with her and she assumes he is with someone else who made her feel insecure. The lyrics "She's so much older than me, she's everything I'm insecure about" suggest that the singer feels inadequate compared to another woman who seems to have everything she lacks. In the second verse, the singer questions how she could ever love anyone else and wonders how her former partner can be "so ok now that I'm gone." This line reveals the singer's disbelief that his ex could move on so quickly, especially when the relationship meant so much to him. The bridge is particularly emotional and powerful, with the words: "I guess you didn't mean what you wrote in that song about me, 'cause you said forever, now I drive alone by your street." This line shows that the singer's ex-partner wrote a song about her, but now she realizes that the words were not genuine. She drives down her street alone, a metaphor for the loneliness and isolation she feels after agreeing to end the relationship. Overall, the lyrics of "Driver's License" is raw, honest, and relatable. The song captures the universal experience of heartbreak and the difficulty of moving on after a relationship ends. Olivia Rodrigo's vulnerable and powerful vocals add emotional impact to the lyrics, making "Driver's License" a standout track that has resonated with millions of listeners around the world.
